about

The music group ESX trio was created in November 2001 to write the original soundtrack of the film ixième – Leopardo d’oro at the Locarno International Film Festival, 2003.
ESX trio’s music is based on an electronic rhythmic, bass, guitar and percussion. It blends dif- ferent styles of traditional northern Indian music, dub, improvised instrumental music and techno. It’s a trance music.

The album Flibuste was realized both in Switzerland and Portugal in Autumn 2003. Its stripped and minimalist character stems from recorded jam sessions that are reworked on and restructured in the studio.
ESX trio’s first album is articulated into four different destinations which represent as many hypnotic raptures.
The efficiency of the percussion, the pulsation of the bass and the melodies of the guitar offer each destination a specific and dreamlike universe which carries away the listener into a serene trance.
Genuine sounds of the har- bour of Porto enter as a counterpoint to the music of ESX trio and allows us to drift away again; reality imposing itself inside the dream.
Additional recordings of traditional fados give Flibuste a melodic emo- tion. A musical crossing, free, without borders.
